Summer of Steroids
Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Troy Glaus will undergo season-ending surgery on his left foot. It has been a tumultuous year for Glaus due to nagging injuries, and most recently the report accusing Glaus of using performance-enchancing drugs.
It is a sad thing to see; just five years ago Glaus was winning a World Series MVP award on his way to a ring with the Angels in 2002. The Angels let Glaus go mainly for financial reasons (they had a young Dallas McPherson to turn to; that has worked real well), and were also worried about shoulder problems. Hopefully the allegations clear up, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.
Especially with ten more major leaguers expected to be revealed after an investigation.
This is just getting ugly real fast. Who can baseball fans trust?
If it isn't the comeback kid, Rick Ankiel, then it is California-grown Troy Glaus. Both of whom you would not suspect to have used performance-enhancing drugs. It is going to be a shame if a player for a playoff team is revealed. It would take the glamour and fun away from the MLB playoffs.
Here's to hoping this gets clear-gelled up sooner rather than later.
Who needs a drink? Cheers.
